Pack status misleading

$

Dear All

We have scenario of Pick, Pack Stage and Load where in loose items are picked to  temporary reusable pick HU (Totes) and brought to Pack work center.

In the Packing station they are packed  as per customer specific packaging , Finally staged and Loaded.

Issue is  delivery gets the pack status "completed"immediately after the pick confirmation to Pick HU and not based on actual pack completion.

Is there any way to reflect the packing status after completion of packing in the work center.

I could have activated the flag " Do not put away HUs" in the Pack  center  storage type but we want to track the pick HU's adn the contents at the pack stations until they are transferred to packing cartons.

An extension to above question>>

Unlike the above scenario where the loose items are picked into the pick HU the scenario here is Picking of cartons to pick HU..

How to handle the requirement of  Pick HU being with the  resource after pick confirmation and the requirement is to just drop the picked cartons at the pack work center.

Packaging Specs for Partial HU's

Dear All

Our requirement is to have auto packaging for IBD ( condition type 0IBD using pack specs with partial and full HU packing identified by different packaging material and  HU types

Assuming we have 1 HU = 1 MT

When we receive 4.6 MT the expectation is to pack in the following fashion

4 MT into 4 Full HU's { Packaging Material:  " FULL_ PAL_PACK_MAT" & HU type:  ZFP}

0.6 MT into 1 Partial HU { Packaging Material: " PART_PAL_PACK_MAT" & HU type: ZPP}

I could achieve the above by maintaining the pack specs using logical conditions and

pressing on the auto pack icon  in two steps/clicks ( 1st step Full HU's are created and 2nd step Partial HU is created).

Is there any way to fully automate the packing , ie to achieve the same by auto packing running in back ground.

Single task for 2 delivery Items having same material

Dear All

Requirement related to  free goods functionality

For instance if a customer orders Material A - 10 Ea ( Line Item# 10)  he gets 1 Ea has free item ( Line item# 20) which is populated as additional line item in the SO .

This additional line is passed to delivery and eventually results in 2 EWM tasks for physically same Material A -11 Ea to be picked from assuming same bin.

ECC-WM functionality supports creation of  single TO for multiple delivery lines having the same material.

Is there any way to achieve the same in EWM.

Brief Introduction about Warehouse Management

$

0

Warehouse Management:

A warehouse management system (WMS) is a key part of the supply chain and primarily aims to control the movement and storage of materials within a warehouse and process the associated transactions, including shipping, receiving, putaway and picking. The systems also direct and optimize stock putaway based on real-time information about the status of bin utilization. A WMS monitors the progress of products through the warehouse. It involves the physical warehouse infrastructure, tracking systems, and communication between product stations.

More precisely, warehouse management involves the receipt, storage and movement of goods, (normally finished goods), to intermediate storage locations or to a final customer. In the multi-echelon model for distribution, there may be multiple levels of warehouses. This includes a central warehouse, a regional warehouses (serviced by the central warehouse) and potentially retail warehouses (serviced by the regional warehouses).

A typical Process flow could be like:

  1. Creat GR
  2. Create TR for putaway
  3. Create TO
  4. Confirm
  5. Create Outbound Delivery
  6. Create TR for this delivery
  7. Create TO
  8. Confirm TO.

WM module of SAP R/3 provides flexible, efficient, automated support that enables you to:

  • manage complex warehouse structures
  • define and manage storage areas and storage bins in the warehouse
  • manage several different types of storage, such as high rack storage, block storage or fixed bin storage
  • process all relevant postings and transactions such as goods receipts, goods issues and general stock transfers.
  • monitor stock movements
  • execute stock placements and removals using different put-away and picking strategies
  • process stock differences
  • manage hazardous materials
  • use bar code scanners
  • interface to external non-SAP warehousing systems
  • manage inventory at the storage bin level
  • ensure that stock posted in the Inventory Management system is the same as the stock in the warehouse
  • integrate with materials management, product planning, quality management and sales and distribution

Advantages:

  • Track exact stock location within one storage location with FIFO.
  • Provides put away functionality for palletizing. etc
  • Provides better picking functionality .
  • Allows for picking locations with replenishment when falls below a defined quantity.
  • Allows segregation of stock types within a warehouse.

Disadvantages:

  • Increased master data maintenance.
  • Additional process step for receipt and picking.
  • Requires expert knowledge to configure for maximum benefit.
  • More complex to resolve problems caused by incorrect processing.

Generally WM provide better automation of processes, particularly with RF, but requires more maintain and process discipline.

It is recommended that you used WM only if the standard logistics functionality is insufficient for your needs.

Plants in Material CIF

Hi Everyone,

I have a scenario of mapping several plants (mainly logical, just carry business process specific inventory) to a common EWM warehouse. All Materials in ECC are extended to all plants. Do I need to use all plants in CIF model or one plant is sufficient? The location specific data has got relevancy in EWM at SAPAPO level? At my place planning happens in a different SCM box.

Hi gurus,

I create an outbound delivery in ERP and it is sent to EWM, EWM activates it automaticaly. Then I decide to cancel (delete) the outbound delivery. Altough the status of oubound delivery order is "not started", when i try to change it using VL02N system does not allow to change it. Posts an error message " The delivery was distributed, meaning that processing occurs in another system. The report back has not yet been received.".

What do you advice me to do.

How to set default number of copies of labels to be printed in SAP EWM

$

hi folks,

we have configured in such a way that, whenever we maintain the inbound delivery in /scwm/prdi, GR will happen automatically and a GR label will be printed automatically. We have defined condition records to determine the printer and also mentioned the number of copies as 1. Now, we need to have 2 copies of the GR label to be printed automatically. I've changed the no of copies as 2 in the condition records but still only 1 copy is getting printed. i have also maintained spool parameter where in i have specified no of copies as 2. Are there any other places i need to change the no of copies to be printed? if so, could you please sugget me?

thanks in advance,

Restricting Manual Entry through RF device

Hi friends,

I have a requirement in WM.

The requirement is to restrict the manual entry through RF devices i.e. the bar codes printed on stickers should always be scanned; the value of the bar code has to be restricted from manual entry through the RF device.

Now the problem in differentiating the two inputs is the scan action of the device is similar to the enter button of the device.

If anyone has got the same issue while using it please help.

Thanks in Advance

Delete Storage Bins

$

Hi,

While configuring an SAP EWM Add-On, I had mistakenly deleted storage bins via the transaction /scwm/ls11.

Now whenever I try to recreate the bins I get an ABAP error.

I realized that the storag bins got deleted from the table /SCWM/LAGP , but the same were not deleted from the table /SCWM/HUHDR

So everytime I try to recreate the storage bins, the system throws up an error saying that the entry already exists in table /SCWM/HUHDR.

Please Help.

I'm in a soup here.

Hi,
I'm trying to acivate the BC Set /SCWM/BASICS in EWM 7 Add-On.

But everytime I'm getting an weird error that says "BC Set Processing error   Message No: SCPR320".

When I check the activation log, I find that all the BC Sets have been passed to activation i.e. they have got a green dot by their side.

But on the left hand side BC Set browser, it says that the activation has been cancelled. I've also checked for key conflicts and there are none.

I've attached a screenshot of the activation log. Kindly help.

Consumption of Packaging material during outbound delivery

$

Hi,

We want to address a requirement like this:

An outbound delivery is created in ERP against a STO. This delivery is distributed to EWM. The delivery items are picked and put in a 'box', the box represents a handling unit. When the PGI happens for this delivery, the stock of the 'box' should get reduced and consumption should be posted for the main item as well as  for the 'box'.

We are ok if the 'box' is picking relevant or not (either way we are ok), but the comsumption of the 'box' is a must. We need an automated solution  - manual addition of 'box' as a new line item in the outbound delivery will not solve my purpose.

Please suggest the best solution for this.

Work center capacity or WT generic

Dear All

Is it possible to have Work center determination based on Bin capacity ,

if not then as second option

Is it possible to  have WT generic for work center determination where in the picker based on the available work center will enter the bin and confirm the task.

Please confirm with the storage type settings/role to accomplish the above..
